How long has this company been in business?

Verify the facts with the Secretary of State. The longer the company has been in business, the more likely they are to STAY in business. Don’t invest your time and money into a start-up venture just to discover they can’t deliver on their promises! Historically, the make or break time period for business is 3 years.

Does the company stock their own inventory on the premises, or do they order out?

Companies who stock their own inventory can deliver faster turnaround time. If they have to order OUT based on the orders coming IN, your customers will have to wait longer for their merchandise.

Who are the principals/owners and what are their backgrounds?

What are their degrees, professional experience and sales/marketing/financial background? This is important because those at the helm of a company steer the business. The ability of those in charge to manage and project cash flow, manage company commitments, etc. will determine how well the company functions and how they will deliver on their promises.

How long have they been paying their Distributors commissions/overrides?

Some companies offer unbelievable commission and/or override programs in the beginning. Many times they have to change their compensation plan when someone actually achieves that level – they find they are paying out too much and can’t support it! What do you do now???? It’s in your best interest to find out how many people are at the various levels and how long they’ve been paid under that plan.

Are YOU responsible for submitting sales tax to your state?

Do you need to obtain a merchant credit card account?

What is their philosophy on carrying inventory to parties?

Compare the rewards programs for your hostesses. The better the incentives for hosting a party, the more bookings you’ll get. Do they have professional sales/marketing materials?

This is extremely important! The catalogs, order forms, business cards and recruiting materials are what you will be presenting to your customers and potential recruits. Make sure you request all the company’s materials to ensure they project a professional, successful image.

Can you take your business to the internet?

Young companies often do not have the ability to set you up with your own website. With the popularity of shopping on the internet today, this can be a huge part of your business. Just For Fun™ offers all our Distributors their own website for a low $9.95 monthly maintenance fee, and no initial set up charge. Your customer places their order on your site, Just For Fun™ receives the information in real time, packs and ships the order direct to the customer, and you earn full commission and sales credit without having to lift a finger!

What is the turnaround time for shipping?

This can make or break your business so you need to consider this carefully. Even if you carry inventory, you probably won’t have everything and items will still need to be shipped. Just For Fun™ stocks our entire inventory at the corporate office and does not drop ship. We individually bag, seal and label each party order and ship directly to your hostess/customer. If the company you are considering ships the product to YOU first, you will be accepting the responsibility of sorting and bagging each order yourself and shipping it yourself – including paying the associated shipping fees yourself. The additional expense and time commitment is considerable!
